What we handle

Six filings that decide whether you can haul.

Applying for the first time, reinstating after a revocation, or keeping an active authority current, it comes down to these.

How it works
1
See where you stand

Run the free check or send us your USDOT number. We review your public record and tell you what, if anything, needs work.

2
Get a fixed quote

One total price, with everything it covers listed. Once you approve, we prepare and submit the filings.

3
Track it in your portal

Every completed filing appears with its date. Upcoming deadlines show up well before they're due.

How we work

Straight answers and published prices.

Compliance paperwork is confusing enough. We explain what's wrong, what it takes to fix, and what it costs, then we do the work.

One total price per package, with every included filing listed.

You see every filing

Each one is logged in your portal with the date it was completed.

Plain language

Every term defined, no alarm-bell notices, no countdown timers.

Services

What each filing is, and why it matters.

Each of these can be filed by a carrier directly. We handle them so you don't have to learn the forms, chase the deadlines, or guess why something was rejected.

01

New operating authority applications

What it is
Operating authority, identified by an MC number, is federal permission for a for-hire carrier to haul regulated freight across state lines. We prepare and submit the application alongside your USDOT registration.
Why it matters
Brokers and shippers check authority before they tender a load. Without it active, you can't legally haul for hire interstate.
If it's missing
The application stays pending until insurance and a BOC-3 are on file. If those aren't filed in time, the application can be dismissed and you start over.
02

BOC-3 filing

What it is
The BOC-3, or Designation of Process Agents, names a representative in every state who can accept legal papers on your behalf. It's filed once and stays on record unless something changes.
Why it matters
It's one of the filings required before new authority is granted, and it has to stay on file for authority to remain active.
If it's missing
A new authority won't activate. On an existing authority, a missing BOC-3 can lead to revocation.
03

UCR registration

What it is
Unified Carrier Registration is an annual registration and fee for carriers operating across state lines. The fee depends on how many power units you run. Registration for the next year usually opens October 1.
Why it matters
States enforce UCR at roadside inspections and weigh stations. It has to be renewed every year, separately from your authority.
If it's missing
You can be fined at inspection, and some states can hold a truck until registration is paid. UCR status also isn't always visible in public data, so we confirm it with you directly.
04

Insurance coordination

What it is
Your insurance company files proof of coverage with FMCSA, usually a form called BMC-91 or BMC-91X for liability. We don't sell insurance. We work with your agent so the filing matches your authority type and gets recorded correctly.
Why it matters
Having a policy isn't enough. The filing has to be on record, with the right coverage amount, under the right USDOT and MC number.
If it's missing
Authority won't activate, and if a filing is cancelled without a replacement, authority is revoked when the cancellation takes effect.
05

Authority reinstatement

What it is
When authority is revoked, there's a specific reason on record, most often a lapsed insurance filing or a missing BOC-3. We find the cause, fix it, and request reinstatement. If reinstatement isn't available, we file a new application.
Why it matters
A revoked authority means you can't take for-hire interstate loads. Fixing the underlying cause first avoids a second revocation later.
If it's left alone
Your authority stays inactive. The longer it sits, the more likely a new application is needed instead of a reinstatement.
06

MCS-150 biennial updates

What it is
The MCS-150, or Motor Carrier Identification Report, is the profile behind your USDOT number: address, fleet size, mileage, cargo type. Every carrier must update it at least every 24 months, on a schedule set by the last digits of the USDOT number.
Why it matters
Brokers, insurers, and inspectors rely on this information. An outdated profile can cause mismatches with your insurance and other filings.
If it's missing
A USDOT number can be deactivated for a missed biennial update, and civil penalties may apply.

About

We handle the paperwork so carriers can run their business.

i
We are an independent private company.

Authority Compliance is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), or any government agency. We are a paid service that prepares and submits filings on behalf of carriers. Carriers can also file these forms directly with FMCSA themselves.

Authority Compliance was started by people who worked the back office of trucking companies: dispatch, safety, and the paperwork nobody else wanted. We kept seeing good operators pulled off the road by a filing that lapsed, a form nobody explained, or a notice that made a small problem sound like an emergency.

So we built a company that does the filings correctly, explains them in plain language, and charges a clear price for the work. When something is wrong with your record, we tell you what it is and what it takes to fix. When nothing is wrong, we tell you that too.

We explain before we sell
If you can fix something yourself in five minutes, we'll say so.
No pressure tactics
No countdown timers, no official-looking letters, no invented deadlines.
A record of everything
Every filing we complete is logged in your portal with its date.
